Charlotte Minority Economic Development Initiative Selects V.K. Fields & Co. as New PR Agency of Record
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Charlotte Minority Economic Development Initiative named V.K. Fields & Co. Public Relations as the new Agency of Record to handle strategic communications, media relations and digital media services for the organization.
The Charlotte Minority Economic Development Initiative (CMEDI) is a joint venture between Carolinas Minority Supplier Development Council (CMSDC) and the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, with the goal of becoming the most inclusive business community in the nation. The CMEDI program matches corporate participants with minority business owners to enhance supplier diversity and to build business capacity for Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs), resulting in increased minority participation in the corporate supply chain process. Phase 1 of CMEDI is comprised of 14 corporations and 18 Minority Business Enterprises. In less than six months since its inception, CMEDI collaborations have produced a 24.8 percent increase in local job creation with contracts valued at more than $800,000. The most recent accomplishment is a joint venture between two MBEs in the CMEDI program, securing a deal valued at $60 million over three years.
The CMEDI model features a two-pronged approach, focusing on Business Modules that enhance the supplier diversity process to include minorities in the corporate supply chain, and Minority Business Enterprise capacity building, which increases access to corporate decision makers and increases opportunities for minority companies to acquire corporate contracts.
