Charter Schools USA hires Executive Vice President of Innovation and Strategic Initiatives
Former Kaplan executive brings diverse background and deep experience
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., March 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Maia Sharpley has joined Charter Schools USA (CSUSA) as executive vice president of innovation and strategic initiatives. She will develop innovative partnerships and solutions as well as oversee marketing, communications and PR initiatives. Sharpley will also develop CSUSA's strategic vision, and act as key advisor responsible for execution of the CEOs special initiatives. Sharpley most recently served as vice president for strategy and innovation with Kaplan, Inc.
Sharpley's experience spans the globe with deep roots in the K-12 and post-secondary education industry. In addition to her work in the United States, she has worked in China and Australia building businesses for Kaplan. Prior to her time at Kaplan, she served in a variety of executive positions with the New York City Department of Education and as strategy consultant for management consulting firms.
She earned her Master of Business Administration in corporate strategy and international business from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She received her Bachelor of Arts in political science, international relations from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. She serves on the National Advisory Board of TheDreamUS, the largest scholarship organization for DREAMers, Lea®n Trials, an EdTech startup as well as Village Capital's Education Advisory Board. Sharpley is also a mentor to EdTech companies participating in Techstars and DreamIt's Accelerators.
