Chicago Top-Selling Blagojevich Halloween Mask Creator Launches Horror Art Show to Get Chicago in the Mood
World-Renowned Artists, Raffles and Pop Culture Treasures Await the Public on October 29th
WESTMONT, Ill., Oct. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Setting the mood for Halloween just got easier, thanks to Kosart Effects Studios & Gallery in Westmont. MALEFICIUM Dark Art Exhibition, the free Halloween art show, is open to the public on Saturday, October 29th from 6:30 p.m. to midnight. Creative costumes are encouraged.
MALEFICIUM--Latin for "mischief"--is the brainchild of J. Anthony Kosar, renowned creator of last Halloween's top-selling Blagojevich mask. "I am very fortunate as this is the first time this elite group of artists has ever appeared together in one show—this is the first of many," Kosar said.
Twenty-eight award-winning artists are participating, including Eisner and Inkpot Award-winning #1 Star Wars Artist Dave Dorman, NY Times bestselling author and artist Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night), Eisner Award-winning artist Jill Thompson (Scary Godmother) Jason Seiler (character designs for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland), Menton Matthews III (creator, exhibition painting Nigredo Two) and more. Artist bios are on KosartGallery.com. Sponsored by HorrorSociety.com, the show will run through December 2nd, with viewings after October 29th by appointment only. Art and theater teachers are invited to bring their students in for private tours.
An added show exclusive, Kosar will display his Boaris Frankenswine sculpture, on loan from a private collector, and unveil the new action figure toy line PRESIDENTIAL MONSTERS--LINCOLNSTEIN, BARACULA, ZOM-BUSH, and more--before they hit retail stores.
A raffle will be held at the premiere with pop culture prizes; raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the show. Artwork will be available for sale (unless otherwise marked). All major credit cards will be accepted. Kosart Effects Studios and Gallery is located at 760 Burr Oak Drive, Westmont, IL 60559.
