WESTWOOD, Mass., June 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Predictive Index, a company that empowers businesses to realize what drives workplace behaviors, today announced that the Children's Bureau is using the Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment™ (PI) to shorten the hiring process, improve employee communication and increase job satisfaction.
Founded in 1851, the Children's Bureau, Inc. is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 licensed by the state of Indiana. Children's Bureau works in partnership with the Indiana Department of Child Services and other organizations statewide. In 2014, the agency served 46,853 children and their families in 47 Indiana counties.
After being under the same leadership for over 20 years, the Children's Bureau brought in Tina Cloer as the new CEO. One of Tina's first steps was to bring in ADVISA management consultants to implement The Predictive Index to help the new leadership team understand how to best communicate and work with their staff members to shorten the hiring process and improve employee satisfaction and decrease turnover rate.
ADVISA helped to train the entire executive team of the Children's Bureau in the PI Behavioral Assessment, a science-based assessment that provides an accurate depiction, or pattern, of people's core drives, and therefore insight into their needs and behaviors. The director level leaders were also trained in managing with the PI Behavioral Assessment as well as behavioral interviewing. This enabled team leaders to understand how to best work with each individual employee, ensuring a smooth transition for the new leadership. In addition, all employees have seen an overview of the PI Behavioral Assessment to gain a general awareness of how the agency uses it.
Results included:
- Overall staff retention grew from 58% to 84% after the first year of having PI fully implemented
- Reducing time-to-fill for open positions from 56 days to 33.62 days
- A 50% reduction in interview days for hiring managers in one year (significant time savings)
In addition, the Children's Bureau saw:
- An increase in hiring manager confidence in the employment process. Specifically, the PI has helped managers understand fit-to-position.
- Improved ability for leadership to assemble balanced teams with the right people in the right seats on the team
- Improvement in leadership's understanding of how to best support different types of people on their staff who are struggling with performance issues
- Improved communication across the board
"Implementing the PI Behavioral Assessment has enabled us to move forward with a more focused approach to interviewing and as a result, we have been able to align our people with where the agency is heading," said Tina Cloer, CEO of the Children's Bureau. "For a lot of people, this process has been very liberating now that we are able to tie together the job more closely with the person in the position."
The PI Behavioral Assessment incorporates validated science to deliver a fast and accurate assessment with huge impact. It is designed to be effective, simple, and easy to use while providing an accurate depiction, or pattern of core drives, and therefore insight into needs and behaviors of an individual based on four personality constructs - dominance, extraversion, patience, and formality. This insight helps to reduce subjectivity and avoid errors that occur when employers use interview techniques only.
