China Center to Build New 'Green' Office in One World Trade Center
NEW YORK, Nov. 16, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- China Center announced today that it has committed to build a green space in its new high-profile home at One World Trade Center. China Center and its investor Vantone Holdings strongly believe in corporate responsibility to help maintain a sustainable environment. The project will be targeted to achieve a LEED for Commercial Interiors certification.
President and CEO of USGBC, Richard Fedrizzi, says, "This commitment to build their new space to LEED by the China Center sends a powerful message to the business community of how important it is to be aware of and to contribute to sustainability."
Xue Ya, President of China Center, said, "China Center takes green development extremely seriously. We are committed to this because it is in the DNA of our corporate culture."
China Center leased, from The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, five-and-a-half floors of the coming One World Trade Center as its future home. The space will be a twenty-first century hub; the unequivocal epicenter of Chinese business in New York. As a Chinese company doing business in New York, China Center's project will serve as an example of corporate environmental responsibility to Chinese businesses all over the globe.
Currently, China Center serves as a window of green technology between China and the U.S. The Center is a key player in introducing USGBC's green building benchmarks and programs to Chinese real estate development and training in China. China Center feels this key green initiative will symbolize cooperation between the United States and China – on environmental issues.
China Center provides an elite level of business facilities and services to international corporations seeking to do business in the U.S. and in China. It not only serves as a "home away from home" for Chinese companies in New York City, but also as a two-way bridge for American and Chinese companies doing bilateral business.
Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system, verifying that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across several metrics: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, materials & resource use, site selection and improved indoor environmental quality.
