Choice Hotels International Executive Awarded Top Legal Honors
Jeff Lobb Named Outstanding In-House Counsel by Washington Metropolitan Area Corporate Counsel Association
SILVER SPRING, Md., Oct. 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE: CHH), one of the world's largest hotel franchisors, today announced that Jeff Lobb, vice president and assistant general counsel of Choice Hotels International, was named 2012 Outstanding In-House Counsel by the Washington Metropolitan Area Corporate Counsel Association (WMACCA) at its 8th annual awards reception held on October 18. More than 400 members of the legal and business communities were in attendance at the awards reception.
With more than 2,100 members from 700-plus private-sector organizations, WMACCA is the second largest in-house bar association in the United States. The association is a regional chapter of the global Association of Corporate Counsel, serving the professional needs of in-house counsel in the nation's capital, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and suburban Maryland.
"We are very proud of Jeff and all he has accomplished at Choice Hotels. This recognition from the legal and corporate communities is extremely well deserved. Jeff is the quintessential 'go-to' attorney and makes the most complex matters look easy," said Simone Wu, senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Choice Hotels. "He is also the first to shine a spotlight on the entire Choice Hotels legal team, noting that this recognition is a reflection of the dedication and hard work contributed by the individuals on his team, in the legal department, and throughout Choice that he works with each day."
The WMACCA award was based in part on Mr. Lobb's efforts related to the company's recently completed $600 million leveraged dividend transaction, which included a series of complex corporate finance transactions that culminated in Choice Hotels' July 2012 declaration of a special cash dividend, as well as the company's real estate transaction with Foulger-Pratt Development related to the construction of Choice Hotels' new global headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, which was ultimately chosen as the Washington Business Journal's 2012 Best Real Estate Deal in the Suburban Office Lease category.
Prior to joining Choice, Mr. Lobb was associated with several major law firms in the Washington, D.C. area. Mr. Lobb holds a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University and a law degree from William & Mary School of Law.
