Christian Universities Online Publishes Top Christian Colleges and Universities in Texas 2017
DURHAM, N.C., Dec. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading Christian higher education resource, Christian Universities Online (http://www.christianuniversitiesonline.org/), has published a ranking of Top Christian Colleges and Universities in Texas 2017. (http://www.christianuniversitiesonline.org/top-christian-colleges-and-universities-in-texas-2017/)
Christian Universities Online produced this ranking by first taking into consideration all schools in the state of Texas that were members of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) or able to be considered member eligible. The following five data points were collected from publicly available sources: 1) faculty-to-student ratio; 2) percent of full-time beginning undergraduates receiving grant or scholarship aid; 3) selectivity; 4) overall retention rate; and 5) overall graduation rate. The data was then standardized, assigned weights to each category, and computed to determine an overall score.
Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas, took top honors on the list. Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, Texas, placed second, and Le Tourneau University of Longview, Texas, placed third.
Other schools making the list include (in alphabetical order):
East Texas Baptist University - Marshall, Texas
Hardin-Simmons University - Abilene, Texas
Houston Baptist University - Houston, Texas
Howard Payne University - Brownwood, Texas
The University of Mary-Hardin Baylor - Belton, Texas
The Lone Star State is notably large and boasts a range of comfortable climates, colorful cities, and unique areas. It has much to offer prospective students not just in terms of education, but also employment opportunities in businesses, industries, and ministry. With its rich history, multi-ethnic population, and combination of urban, suburban, and rural areas, Texas presents the total package of options for many students and recent graduates.
In this ranking, there are some familiar names and some new ones. Anna-Rebekah Orr, site editor at Christian Universities Online, states that the goal of this ranking is to highlight schools that excel in their educational offerings within the state of Texas. "This ranking is not merely a re-grouping of the our Top 50. To produce this list we focused our attention specifically of this geographical area and applied our criteria anew. We understand the significance of the decision students are faced with when choosing a college and that location is often a primary consideration. Because of its large number of high-quality schools, and its power to attract so many students, Texas has earned its own ranking."
Like other rankings from Christian Universities Online, this one seeks to highlight intentionally Christian colleges and universities that are exemplary in their personal attention to students, selectivity, readily available financial aid and overall student satisfaction. Christian Universities Online (CUO) strives to be the go-to and trusted resource for students and their parents in deciding which school to attend.
