Today's businesses are looking for flexibility in locating portions of their workloads in multiple geographies. Placement within a geographic location is driven by security requirements to retain data and applications in-country, low-latency requirements for high-speed applications, or the need to develop a disaster recovery strategy across multiple locations.
"CIBER was searching for a global partner who specialized in cloud computing infrastructure and data center management with many facilities around the world," said Cynthia Boucher, senior vice president and general manager of CIBER's IT outsourcing division. "As a Gartner Magic Quadrant market leader for Cloud Infrastructure as a Service and Web Hosting, Savvis has the reputation and capacity that will support CIBER's growth in this market. And, with CenturyLink's recently announced acquisition of Savvis, CIBER will also be able to leverage a significant worldwide MPLS and advanced fiber network linking Savvis' data centers."
The Savvis and CenturyLink combined infrastructure extends to 45 countries and includes 48 data centers located in North America, Europe and Asia, encompassing more than 1.9 million square feet of raised floor space, a private network supporting multiple application service levels and Tier-1 OC-192 Internet backbone. Savvis can provide co-location (including basic space, power, and telecommunications), a dedicated hosting model, an op-ex model, public and private clouds, and meets today's growing information security, privacy and regulatory requirements.
"Savvis provides enterprise-class infrastructure services for CIBER to deliver cloud-based solutions to the market," said Jaywant Rao, vice president of global alliances for Savvis. "CIBER is providing high business value to its clients through practical and innovative approaches to meeting IT challenges. We are excited to partner with CIBER as an integral part of the Savvis Alliances Program."
CenturyLink, Savvis's parent company, is the third largest telecommunications company in the U.S. and among the Fortune 500 list of America's largest corporations. The company provides broadband, voice and wireless services to consumers and businesses across the country. In addition, the company provides data, voice and managed services to business, government and wholesale customers in local, national and select international markets through its high-quality advanced fiber optic network and multiple data centers.
"This deal positions CIBER as an even greater player on the global outsourcing stage," said Tony Ferrigno, vice president of global sales and solutions for the IT outsourcing division at CIBER. "With service and expertise from CIBER and infrastructure and network from Savvis and CenturyLink, clients will benefit from an end-to-end, integrated solution that is robust, flexible and scalable to meet their needs today and in the future. Add all the other CIBER services – such as application development, vertical industry expertise, technology innovation, ERP solutions, and global capabilities – we have the entire IT stack covered from bottom to top."
CIBER is exhibiting at the Gartner Outsourcing and Vendor Management Summit in Orlando, Fla. from Sept. 12 – 14. On Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 10:45 a.m. CIBER and Savvis will jointly host a roundtable discussion at the conference titled "Innovations in Outsourcing: Impact of the Cloud on Managed Services."
