BOSTON, March 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- City Sports today announced plans for a pair of new retail locations in 2013 including a new site for its Chestnut Hill store, set for a March 16 opening to coincide with the brand's 30th anniversary. City Sports continues the festivities with a second spring opening in New York City's financial district, slated to be the retailer's largest location to date.
A fixture in Chestnut Hill since 1996, City Sports looks to freshen the brand's neighborhood presence at its new location, joining WS Development's much-anticipated "The Street" shopping complex along Route 9. City Sports is planning a grand opening party for customers next weekend that will include raffles worth over $500 in City Sports merchandise as well as an appearance by former Patriot and ESPN analyst Matt Light.
"We couldn't think of a better way to kick off City Sports' 30th birthday than with the housewarming of our new home in Chestnut Hill," said City Sports President and CEO Edward Albertian. "We have always been embraced by the Chestnut Hill community, and we look forward to offering our customers an unparalleled shopping experience in this exciting new City Sports store at The Street."
At over 9,200 square feet, the new Chestnut Hill space hosts the ultimate shopping experience for the urban athlete, including new and expanded departments for women's apparel, footwear, youth and team sports. The brand's signature women's offering showcases an updated pant wall and one of the most comprehensive sports bra collections available anywhere in retail. City Sports' established footwear department also gets an upgrade with an in-store track and treadmill to test out more than 300 styles. Other highlights include a beefed-up product offering for youth and team sports, and an expertly staffed racquet sports department with full-time racquet stringing and demo services.
The City Sports Chestnut Hill grand opening party will take place on Saturday, March 16 at 10 a.m. The first 100 customers through the door will receive a gift bag containing a $10 store gift card and giveaways from City Sports and Nike, with one lucky winner receiving the grand prize: one free pair of shoes a month for a year. Three-time Super Bowl champ Light will be on hand to sign autographs for fans from 11 to 12:30 p.m. Additional festivities include a 5K fun run sponsored by Nike, free raffles, a DJ and refreshments.
In addition to the Chestnut Hill revamp, City Sports will open a brand new location at 50 Broadway in New York City, slated to open at the end of March. At over 10,500 square feet, the bi-level space will feature an open floor plan and many other details that nod to the building's origins as a bank. This store will mark City Sports' third location in NYC.
