City Year Statement on Miami-Dade County Schools
Named Winner of 2012 Broad Prize for Urban Education
BOSTON, Oct. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- City Year, Inc, an education-focused, national nonprofit that deploys diverse teams of young people to serve in America's highest-need schools, issued the following statement today regarding the Broad Foundation's announcement that Miami Dade County Public Schools had won the 2012 Broad Prize for Urban Education. The statement was signed by City Year, Inc. national CEO and Co-Founder, Michael Brown , national President, Jim Balfanz , and City Year Miami Executive Director Saif Ishoof .
"City Year congratulates Superintendent Alberto Carvalho and his colleagues at Miami-Dade County Public Schools for winning the 2012 Broad Prize for Urban Education, the most prestigious award in American education.
