Clasma's Industrial-to-Grid Summit Answers Key Smart Grid Questions for Industrial Consumers
I2G Summit to take place at ARC World Industry Forum, Feb. 7
DALLAS, Jan. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Clasma Events announced today that the Industrial-to-Grid (I2G) Summit will take place on Feb. 7 at the ARC World Industry Forum in Orlando, FL. During this half-day session, approximately 15 industry-leading speakers will help elevate the energy discussion with the industrial consumer segment to ensure companies are equipped to make the smartest, most cost-effective, and most energy-efficient decisions.
According to the Department of Energy, the industrial sector consumes about 30% of the energy used in the U.S. However, the voice of the industrial consumer segment has largely been absent in Smart Grid policy, regulatory and implementation discussions today.
Whether it's time-based pricing, automated demand response, or distributed energy generation, all facets of the energy – and Smart Grid – value chain will have a meaningful impact on the bottom lines of industrial energy consumers.
Starting with an overview session covering the state of Smart Grid and the standards, technologies, innovations, and policy implications for large-load customers, the I2G Summit will also answer critical industry questions during in-depth panel sessions. Key speakers will include:
- Dr. J. Patrick Kennedy, Founder & CEO, OSIsoft;
- Steve Widergren, Principal Engineer, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory;
- Benson Hougland, VP Marketing & Product Development, Opto 22;
- Andy Chatha, President, ARC Advisory Group;
- Dr. Tariq Samad, Corporate Fellow, Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions; and
- Many others. See agenda>.
"As large energy consumers, industrial facilities have a huge role to play in – and a lot to gain from – an automated, demand-responsive, and more reliable energy grid," said Anto Budiardjo, President and CEO, Clasma Events. "Whether you're an electric utility, independent system operator, industry consultant, or major industrial facility manager, the I2G Summit will cover critical topics shaping your business."
"ARC Advisory Group is pleased to include the I2G Summit in this year's ARC World Industry Forum," said Andy Chatha, founder and president of ARC. "The vision of smart energy and the Smart Grid is a global phenomenon, but it cannot succeed without broadly engaging industrial energy users. Hence, having the I2G Summit as part of the ARC Forum makes very good sense. ARC looks forward to advancing this dialog."
The I2G Summit is free for attendees of the ARC World Industry Forum, made possible in part by the Summit's sponsor, Opto 22, a company that helps organizations monitor and control the devices and machines important to their business.
