Clery Center celebrates 25 years since passage of Jeanne Clery Act with Looking Back, Moving Forward Conference in Washington, D.C.
Event marks 25th anniversary of historic legislation that changed the landscape of campus safety by ensuring accountability of colleges and universities
WAYNE, Pa., Oct. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Clery Center for Security on Campus announced it will host its 25th anniversary conference, "Looking Back, Moving Forward," at the Newseum in Washington, D.C., on Friday, November 13, 2015. The one-day conference features nationally renowned experts highlighting research and programs that have demonstrated success in improving campus safety.
The event will mark the 25th anniversary of the passage of the Jeanne Clery Act, a federal statute passed in 1990 that requires all colleges and universities that participate in federal financial aid programs to keep and disclose information about crime on and near their respective campuses.
Connie Clery, mother of the late Jeanne Clery and founder of the Clery Center for Security on Campus, will present the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Award. Established in 1994, the award is presented each year by the nonprofit to honor institutions and individuals that have done extraordinary things to make college and university students safer.
