Cloud User Survey Results 2015 - Cloud 2.0 is Real and Happening Now
NEW YORK, Dec. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Introduction
Nine years ago, Amazon Web Services (AWS) introduced Cloud Computing services to the world. In doing so, AWS ushered in the Cloud 1.0 era, wherein "cloud" was synonymous with public cloud; and businesses dabbled with the new model for a handful of non mission-critical workloads. While public cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) continues to witness significant growth, enterprise IT decision-makers are realizing that the piecemeal approach to cloud will not help them achieve the efficiency they are seeking. Furthermore, performance requirements, in terms of data security, reliability, resiliency, and compliance, are driving enterprise initiatives toward using a combination of IT solutions, with cloud being an integral part.
The new cloud era—Cloud 2.0—involves a tightly integrated hybrid environment consisting of multiple deployment models, including managed hosting, virtualization, bare-metal cloud, on-prem private cloud, hosted private cloud, and public cloud. It puts every type of environment at the fingertips of IT managers, so they can choose the best-suited option to respond quickly and effectively to business needs. The integration between private and public cloud entities also enables the IT team to manage the resources in a single pool, and apply consistent security, compliance and management policies across the platform. Cloud 2.0 provides a holistic approach to cloud implementations, enabling the IT organization to act as a strategic enabler of business goals. In this SPIE, the first in a series of reports detailing the results of the 2015 Frost & Sullivan Cloud
User Survey, we look at the adoption trends for public, hosted private, and bare metal cloud services.
