Coast Guard Selects IMTC As National Incident Management Training Provider
OAKHURST, Calif., May 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Incident Management Training Consortium (IMTC), a respected national leader in the development of All-Hazards Incident Management Teams and Incident Command System training curricula, exercises, and mentoring, today announced it has been selected as the Incident Command System/Incident Management training contractor for the United States Coast Guard (USCG).
The nationwide contract was awarded at the conclusion of a rigorous eight-month competitive evaluation process. Under this contract, IMTC will provide all necessary instructional, technical, training, and evaluation services needed by the USCG to maintain its readiness for managing responses to natural and man-made disasters and compliance with the newest National Incident Management System (NIMS) standards.
IMTC will be presenting the USCG's incident management courses nationwide and updating them as necessary to maintain the USCG's training program currency and effectiveness. It will also be developing specialized courses to meet emerging trends in incident management techniques learned from best practices and lessons learned.
According to Jon Olney, IMTC Chief Executive Officer, "...successful implementation of NIMS depends on the collaborative participation and smooth integration of federal, state, local, and community-based organizations who have roles in preventing, preparing for, responding to, and recovering from an incident. This contract continues the Coast Guard's strong commitment to that concept and their continuing successful implementation of NIMS as an efficient national tool."
Olney states that the USCG's incident management courses will be used to train approximately 9,000 trainees annually at various locations in the United States and US Territories. If fully executed, the total dollar figure of the contract is estimated at approximately 5.8 million dollars.
IMTC, headquartered in Central California, has developed or presented more than 700 NIMS ICS courses to a variety of federal, state, local and tribal agencies since its founding ten years ago. IMTC is also known for its training and consulting work with non-governmental and private sector clients in sensitive homeland security subjects.
