CoBank CEO Bob Engel named chair of Regis University Board of Trustees
DENVER, Nov. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bob Engel, the chief executive officer of CoBank, has been named chairman of the Regis University Board of Trustees, the university announced today. He succeeds Richard C. Kelley, former chairman and CEO of Xcel Energy in this role.
Engel will lead the 41-member board that oversees the region's only Jesuit Catholic university, which has campuses in Northwest Denver, Thornton, Colorado Springs, the Denver Tech Center, and is a pioneer in online education.

With $120 billion in assets, the bank is the largest financial institution headquartered in Colorado, and focuses on lending to agribusinesses, rural infrastructure and community facilities throughout the United States.
A native of Buffalo, New York, Engel spent the early part of his career in public accounting before transitioning into commercial banking, eventually becoming chief banking officer at HSBC Bank USA in New York. He moved to Denver in 2000 to join CoBank as president and chief operating officer, and was named chief executive officer in 2006.
Engel, who will be honored by the Denver Business Journal as a Corporate Citizen of the Year for 2016, also serves on the board of trustees of his alma mater, Niagara University. A father of three, he lives with his wife, Lynda, in Castle Rock. He has been a member of the Regis Board of Trustees since 2008. Engel's son, Tyler, is a graduate of Regis Jesuit High School.
Regis University, one of 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the U.S., has been an institution in Denver since 1887.
