June 9, 2016 The Department of State has issued a warning against all travel to Libya. U.S. citizens in Libya should immediately depart. The situation is extremely unstable due to extremist groups. The U.S. Embassy has suspended its operations in Libya. In addition, there is little or no government control over much of the country including the local police who have limited ability to respond in the case of emergency.
June 10, 2016 Haiti's presidential election process has caused the State Department to issue an alert which urges U.S. citizens to remain cautious as elections proceed. As the political situation in the country remains uncertain, possible demonstrations and unrest may occur on or around June 14 when the National Assembly votes. Traffic could be disrupted as authorities close roads and restrict traffic to major locations such as Port-au-Prince. Citizens traveling in Haiti should remain cautious and be prepared with essential supplies of food, water and medications in case of an emergency. This travel alert may be updated after the election process is complete. Travelers should check with the U.S. Embassy in Haiti for the latest information.
