LOS ANGELES, May 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Codesmith is excited to announce the Codesmith and Framework $100k Scholarship fund. This year Codesmith will award $100k in scholarships to candidates who show exceptional potential as programmers and a commitment to our values of excellence and community.
We are committed to changing the makeup of the technology industry and software engineering as at least 80% of recipients will be drawn from communities underrepresented in technology. We are also announcing today a Scholarship Fund Board who will serve to evaluate scholarship applicants. The Board is comprised of influential figures from a diverse range of backgrounds making a major impact in the technology space.
Chike Aguh - CEO of EveryoneOn, a national nonprofit dedicated to closing the digital divide and, to date, that has connected over 400,000 low-income Americans in 48 states to the Internet and the opportunity it brings.
Christine Carrillo - CEO & CoFounder of Impact Health, a platform for health insurance reinventing the consumer experience using data and machine intelligence.
Rico Moorer - Chief of Staff, Buzzfeed, the leading online media and video platform
Susan Tashiro - Software Engineer at Thrive Market, an online platform offering natural and organic food products.
Lauren Cardenas - Career Program Manager at the Posse Foundation, one of the most comprehensive and renowned college access and youth leadership development programs in the United States.
To be considered for the scholarship candidates must complete the scholarship application (indicating whether your application is for Framework or Codesmith) and then be accepted to the program through the regular application process. To aid in the process, successfully awarded candidates will be assigned a mentor to help navigate their beginning journey into the world of software engineering.
