Coffee Regional Medical Center Chooses EarlySense Monitoring Solution to Further Enhance Patient Care
DOUGLAS, Georgia, April 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Coffee Regional Medical Center (CRMC) announced today its decision to implement the EarlySense System which will now offer continuous and contact-free monitoring on all general care beds. The investment in the EarlySense System is in line with CRMC's mission to provide the highest-quality healthcare in a safe and caring environment for both patients and families.
Constant surveillance of patients and getting to the bedside before a potentially adverse event has occurred has developed into a top priority for CRMC. Since implementing the EarlySense System on 23 beds in October 2013, the hospital was able to demonstrate improved patient care by earlier detection of patient deterioration and better discharge planning. Based on favorable data and results around clinical outcomes such as reduction in the number of ICU days and readmission back to the hospital within 30 days, Coffee Regional has decided to implement EarlySense on all general care beds throughout the hospital.
"When my mom was hospitalized at Coffee Regional, the staff told me about this system that would constantly look for my mom's heart rate and respiratory rate. I knew that in case of any changes in her condition, the staff would be immediately notified and take care of her, even at night. I felt a lot more confident to leave her there knowing that" said a patient's family member.
With the two most important predictors for patient adverse events being the respiratory rate and heart rate. EarlySense's real-time delivery of actionable data on these vital sign measurements, as well as valuable trending information, empower the CRMC medical team to identify developing adverse events and intervene in a timely manner.
Tim O'Malley, President of EarlySense Inc. said, "We are pleased with Coffee Regional Medical Center's decision to standardize their hospital facility to the EarlySense solution. Research which has been recently published showed that EarlySense could provide very meaningful patient outcome results, and to partner with a facility such as CRMC who saw similar results in a clinical setting is very rewarding for all of us at EarlySense"
EarlySense incorporates a sensor placed under the bed mattress, without ever having to touch the patient, leaving the patient unburdened by cumbersome attachments. Meanwhile, CRMC staff can gain a better understanding of each individual patient to ensure care is customized and personalized based on the patient.
"The EarlySense System is advancing the high quality of care we provide at Coffee RMC and assists us to better meet the needs of our community." said Sherry Thomas, VP of Patient Care Services, Coffee Regional Medical Center. "The system allows us to detect patient deterioration and the potential for an adverse event early on and as a result maximize the well-being of our patients".
