Cognovant™ Adds Over 30 Years of Healthcare, Business Experience to Its Advisory Board with Introduction of Liz Scherer
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cognovant, Inc., (www.cognovant.com) a consumer health company that specializes in mobile personal health record technology, welcomed Liz Scherer (www.lizschererwriter.com) to the company's Advisory Board.
Scherer joins an Advisory Board that includes Ramin Homayouni, PhD, associate professor of biology and director of bioinformatics at the University of Memphis, deputy director, Feinstone Center for Genomics, adjunct associate professor of neurology, University of Tennessee Health Science Center and founder of Computable Genomix (www.computablegenomix.com); and Michael Millenson, president of Health Quality Advisors, LLC (www.healthqualityadvisors.com), author of Demanding Medical Excellence: Doctors and Accountability in the Information Age, an adjunct appointment as the Mervin Shalowitz, M.D. Visiting Scholar at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and president-elect for the Society for Participatory Medicine.
She brings roughly 30 years experience in the healthcare space to her new position. A strategic thinker, Scherer's multifaceted career, which includes business development, medical education, news reporting and social media has driven her sophisticated ability to see the bigger picture and strategically frame what can and should come next in the evolution of a product or a brand.
Scherer's professional expertise makes her an asset to Cognovant's Advisory Board. Additionally, her strategic approach will help drive further outreach and awareness of Cognovant's first tool, a mobile personal health record app called PocketHealth™ (www.cognovant.com/mobile-health-app-latest-pockethealth-update-now-live) that gives consumers secure, instant access to their health information from their mobile device. She's well versed in the healthcare industry, giving her an innate ability to connect with both healthcare providers and consumers.
"I thoroughly understand healthcare marketing and, more importantly, how to interact and communicate with, not to mention leverage, the primary silos," Scherer says. "I speak doctor, consumer, and, of course, pharmaceuticals. I not only understand the science but I intrinsically know how to effectively frame and communicate it in a way that it can be broadly understood and utilized."
Cognovant and the Advisory Board are excited about Scherer's experience and the guidance she'll be able to offer as the company continues to create mobile health tools.
"We're honored to have Liz guide us as we create tools that empower patients and help them manage their health," Joe Ketcherside, Cognovant's President and CEO, says. "Her insights across the breadth of health care will help us find opportunities to truly make a difference."
