NEW YORK, Feb. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Noble NoBull - Australian pop singer/songwriter Cole Phoenix is named as a semi-finalist in the prestigious International Songwriting Competition for her dance/electronica hit single,  "CANNIBAL." The acclaimed tune is a highlight from her self-titled debut album Cole Phoenix, released in July 2012, and propels the rising star into the headlines for her talents not only as a spectacular vocalist, but also now solidifies her as a profound lyricist. From Cole Phoenix herself, "Don't imitate, regenerate. Create art from heart."

"I'm honored to be a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition for 'CANNIBAL,'" reveals Phoenix. "I came up with 'CANNIBAL' as a metaphor for bullying. After writing these lyrics, I heard First Lady Michelle Obama refer to how bullying 'eats you up inside' on the Ellen show...confirmation from the top!"

Phoenix is ecstatic her single and sound are reaching a worldwide audience, and she is thrilled for the inevitable major exposure that comes with being a semi-finalist in this global contest. Her anti-bullying anthem sinks its teeth into the dance/electronica songwriting category, and through her lyrics, she urges everyone to dance and be joyful, as opposed to cruelly hurting one another. "Don't let yourself get eaten up inside by a bully - a 'CANNIBAL' - that's the message I want people to connect with," discloses Phoenix. "Stop the bullying and let's turn the tables and start dancing. Sticks and stones may break my bones but music will protect me!"

Coincidentally, Phoenix was in her hometown of Brisbane, Australia when she received the good news. She had flown in to attend the opening of highly anticipated boutique gallery, ART-tique. An avid supporter of art in all forms, Phoenix is currently finalizing her Gothic horror romance novel The Phoenix, and adapting the novel into a screenplay for a feature film, now in development.

With over 20,000 entries and over 119 countries participating, the International Songwriting Competition is the world's top songwriting contest. Phoenix shares the music writing credits for "CANNIBAL" with collaborators Dave Pickel and producer Jeff Dawson. Finalists will be announced at the end of February and winners in April.

"CANNIBAL" from the Cole Phoenix album is now available worldwide on iTunes and all major digital retailers.
