College Success Foundation To Expand To Bremerton And Port Angeles School Districts
ISSAQUAH, Wash., April 1, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The College Success Foundation (CSF) will expand to support students in Bremerton and Port Angeles High Schools with advising and support services to improve high school and college graduation rates in Fall 2016. These new programs are a result of Representative Drew Hansen (D-Bainbridge Island) securing funding in the final 2015 supplemental budget to improve successful post-high school transitions for all students in the region.
"The College Success Foundation is excited for the opportunity to bring our effective college readiness model to high schools in Bremerton and Port Angeles. Providing our support services, in collaboration with school districts, business and civic leaders, yields significant increases in high school graduation rates and college enrollment," said Yolanda Watson Spiva, CEO and President of the College Success Foundation. "All Washington youth should graduate from high school college-ready and have an equal opportunity for a college education. We look forward to partnering with the Bremerton and Port Angeles school districts to empower student success."
The College Success Foundation has a proven track record of dramatically improving high school and college graduation rates for underserved students throughout Washington state. These remarkable results come from working in partnership with the state, districts, schools and the communities we serve. Nearly 100% of the students who participate in College Success Foundation programs graduate from high school. In addition, CSF students graduate college at a rate of 62 percent compared to 14 percent of low-income students statewide.
This is a life-changing opportunity for students in Bremerton and was Representative Hansen's top priority in the budget this year. "This funding will help more of our Bremerton kids start thinking about college at an early age and making concrete plans for how to get there," said Hansen.
The College Success Foundation is a Washington state non-profit that provides a unique integrated system of support and scholarships to inspire underserved, low-income students to finish high school, graduate from college and succeed in life.
