Colorado Hosts Annual "Hajj" of New World Religion
BOULDER, Colo., Sept. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Sept 8th, followers of the religious movement the New Message from God will convene in Estes Park for their annual Encampment of the New Message.
Based on the "revelations" of Marshall Vian Summers, the New Message from God spans 8000 pages of text, which Summers says were revealed to him "in a state of revelation" over a twenty-five year period. Today, the New Message from God has a diverse and global community of believers, and the 2011 Encampment will see visitors from as far away as the Persian Gulf States and Europe.
The Encampment is a four day event focused on the revelations and practices that constitute living the New Message from God. Of primary focus are five pillars of being a student of the New Message:
1) Studying the extensive texts and spiritual practices contained in the New Message from God
2) Advocating for a unified world response to climate change, depletion of the Earth's resources and the oppression of women and the poor
3) Spreading the New Message from God to others
4) Tithing to the Society for the New Message from God
5) Recognizing that Marshall Vian Summers is God's messenger
Marshall Vian Summers is also expected to deliver a special sermon from the 2011 Encampment, which will be broadcast worldwide at 10 am MDT Sunday, September 11th.
Just as Muslims consider Muhammad the messenger through which God spoke to humanity, the "Students of the New Message" consider Marshall Vian Summers the messenger through which God is now speaking again. For them, the annual Encampment is the equivalent of the Islamic Hajj, except that at this historic gathering God's Messenger will actually be present.
Summers claims his "revelations" are not based on Christian or Muslim traditions, however his revelations do state that Muhammad was the last messenger sent from God, and that God has chosen to send a new messenger to deliver further revelation to humanity.
Speaking on Jihad, the New Message from God says, "Use not religion as a justification for war and retaliation, or you corrupt and dishonor the grace and power that God has given you to receive and to share with others. The true Jihad is the fire of conscience that will purify and cleanse your thoughts and actions."
And on the topic of women's rights, Summers says that we live in the "age of women," a time when, "God wills that woman rise to the roles of religious leadership and that those who have limited the gifts and expression of women end their oppression, otherwise humanity will fail in its evolution and development."
These and other "revelations" from the New Message from God will be at the center of the 2011 Encampment. For more information about the Encampment or to receive a one-day press pass to attend, please contact William Burrows at 1-800-938-3891 or [email protected].
