Combat Wounded Veteran Surprised With 100% Mortgage-Free Home
FORT WORTH, Texas, Nov. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Military Warriors Support Foundation (MWSF) and Wells Fargo surprised one of our nation's combat-wounded heroes with a 100 percent mortgage-free, newly renovated home on Sunday, November 9, 2014.
Specialist John Robert Hill Jr. was surprised with the mortgage free home by (Retired) Lt. General Leroy Sisco, CEO and Founder of MWSF, during a special "Hunt of a Lifetime" where he presented Hill the key at a dinner honoring several combat wounded veterans.
The Wells Fargo donated home was presented by Walmart and Dr Pepper Snapple Group as part of Project Rebuild, a campaign to assist in rebuilding the lives of our nation's combat-wounded veterans.
"Specialist Hill is a true American hero who has given so much to our country. We are honored to partner with Military Warriors Support Foundation to help wounded veterans make a successful transition to civilian life," said Rodger Collins, president of Packaged Beverages for Dr Pepper Snapple Group. "We're proud to work with Walmart, to give their shoppers the opportunity to support Project Rebuild."
Specialist Hill is a Purple Heart and Combat Infantry Badge recipient due to wounds sustained in service, including the loss of his left leg. He served in Afghanistan in 2011 and is pending medical retirement.
"I am so grateful to the Military Warriors Support Foundation," said Specialist Hill. "They have done so much for us through this transitional period. I cannot express how grateful we are."
