Comcast Hometown Network (Channel 104) to Air 21 High School Football Games, Including Four Live Contests Network Adds Live Telecasts in Fourth Year of Coverage

An Additional 12 Games Will Have Red Zone Video Highlights Package Available On Demand

LIVERMORE, Calif., Aug. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast Hometown Network (CHN), Comcast's regional cable network covering Northern and Central California, today announced that it will televise 21 high school football games this season, and will add live contests for the first time (see complete schedule below).  An additional 12 games will also have a five minute video highlights package, featuring all scoring plays, available via Xfinity On Demand (see complete schedule below).  In its fourth year of covering prep football, CHN's games will continue to appear under the banner of "Xfinity High School Sports," and will be available on Channel 104 to Comcast digital cable customers.  The telecasts kick off on Saturday, August 25th at 7:00 p.m. with Bishop O'Dowd of Oakland hosting Las Lomas High School.

"Comcast Hometown Network has enriched its coverage of prep football with each new season, and we're elated to add live telecasts and red zone highlights packages of 12 additional games to the mix this year," said Jeff Giles, General Manager of Comcast Hometown Network.  "The Friday night lights just got a little brighter for those schools selected to be televised live or to have highlights available throughout Northern and Central California."

Play-by-play announcers for Comcast Hometown Network's high school football games will be Zack Bayrouty (Stockton Ports, University of the Pacific basketball); veteran minor league baseball announcer Joe Castellano; Dave Lewis (KCBS, UC Berkeley women's basketball); and UC Berkeley commentator Todd McKim.  San Jose SaberCats head coach Darren Arbet and former UC Davis and University of Nevada Reno football announcer Scott Gordon will split the color analyst duties.

In addition to Bishop O'Dowd and Las Lomas, CHN's high school football schedule features many of the top prep teams in Northern and Central California, including perennial powers De La Salle, Valley Christian, Palo Alto, St. Ignatius, Sacred Heart, Lincoln (Stockton), Grant (Sacramento), Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove), Vacaville, Granite Bay, Del Oro, Folsom and Buhach Colony.

The "Xfinity High School Sports" prep contests will premiere on Comcast Hometown Network (Channel 104), and will be replayed several times.  In addition, the 21 complete games and the 12 extra highlights packages will also be available any time of the day or night via Comcast's popular On Demand platform, which is free to Comcast digital customers. To view Comcast Hometown Network games On Demand, Comcast Digital Cable customers can tune to Channel 1 on their Digital Cable lineup or press the On Demand button on their remote control, then click on the "Get Local" section, then click on "Sports," and select "High School Sports" and then "Football."

Comcast Hometown Network (www.comcasthometown.com) continues to be one of the top destinations for local sports coverage.  The network is in its fourth season of airing LIVE minor league baseball games -- this year televising 30 games from the California League and the Pacific Coast League, featuring the San Jose Giants, Stockton Ports, Modesto Nuts, Visalia Rawhide and the Fresno Grizzlies.  In addition, CHN also televises key high school basketball matchups featuring prominent prep programs throughout Northern and Central California.
