LIVERMORE, Calif., Jan. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast Hometown Network (CHN), Comcast's regional cable network on Channel 104 covering Northern and Central California, today announced that it will televise 24 high school basketball games as part of its ever-expanding Comcast Hometown Sports (CHS) programming  in 2012 (see complete schedule below).  The games, appearing under the banner of "Xfinity High School Sports," will be available on Channel 104 to all Comcast digital cable customers throughout Northern and Central California.  The telecasts kick off on January 7, with Burbank High School of Sacramento hosting perennial power Sacramento High School.

"Comcast Hometown Network continues its extensive coverage of high school sports in the Northern and Central California region with our 2012 prep basketball season line-up," said Jeff Giles, Director of Comcast Hometown Network.  "Sports fans in over two million homes can continue to watch the best of prep basketball on Channel 104, making Comcast Hometown Network a continued top destination for sports programming."

The "Xfinity High School Sports" prep contests will premiere on Comcast Hometown Network (Channel 104), and will be replayed several times.  In addition, all games will also be available any time of the day or night via Comcast's popular ON DEMAND platform, which is free to Comcast digital customers. To view Comcast Hometown Network games ON DEMAND, Comcast Digital Cable customers can tune to Channel 1 on their Digital Cable lineup or press the ON DEMAND button on their remote control, then click on the "Get Local" section, then click on "Sports," and select "High School Sports" and then "Basketball."

In addition to Burbank (Sacramento) and Sacramento, CHN's high school basketball schedule features many of the top prep teams in Northern and Central California, including prominent NorCal powers Archbishop Mitty, Elk Grove's Sheldon High School, Salesian, and De La Salle; as well as traditionally strong teams such as Jesuit from the Sacramento region plus Clovis East from the Fresno area.

Comcast Hometown Network www.comcasthometown.com continues to be one of the top destinations for local sports coverage.  The network recently completed its third season of airing LIVE minor league baseball games -- this year televising 44 games from the California League and the Pacific Coast League, featuring the San Jose Giants, Stockton Ports, Modesto Nuts, Visalia Rawhide and the Fresno Grizzlies.  In addition, CHN also televises key high school football matchups featuring prominent prep programs throughout Northern and Central California.  Comcast Hometown Network has also televised San Jose SaberCats games from the Arena Football League, Stockton Thunder ECHL hockey contests, and Western Athletic Conference (WAC) football and basketball games.
