Community Education Centers, Inc. Celebrates Ten Year Anniversary of Coleman Hall
WEST CALDWELL, N.J., Oct. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Community Education Centers, Inc. (CEC), the nation's leading provider of offender reentry and in-prison treatment services, is celebrating the ten year anniversary of Coleman Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since opening in 2001, thousands of offenders have passed through the facility's classrooms, lecture halls and assessment offices.
Chairman and CEO of CEC John J. Clancy said, "This ten year celebration represents our dedication to changing the lives of offenders in Pennsylvania. Coleman Hall plays a vital role in helping offenders reenter society and stay out of the corrections system. We are proud of the work accomplished at Coleman Hall in helping thousands of people improve their lives."
Coleman Hall residents are referred through the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, and the Bucks County Dept. of Corrections. The 300-bed facility includes a secure unit for Technical Parole Violators (PennCAPP) that specializes in changing criminal thinking and addictive behaviors.
The goal of Coleman Hall is to provide an intensive treatment program that emphasizes the social skills necessary to successfully reenter society. Coleman Hall provides individual assessments, individual and group counseling, substance abuse treatment, educational services, employment readiness, life skills, and aftercare/alumni services. The facility is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA) and scored a perfect 100% on all mandatory and non-mandatory standards during its last accreditation.
CEC's Clancy concluded, "I look forward to continuing the successes of Coleman Hall, and keeping our communities safer. Statistics show that building more prisons is not the answer to solving the problem of recidivism. The answer, in our view, is for correctional agencies nationwide to partner with organizations such as ours to help individuals permanently reenter society. We celebrate Coleman Hall today as one small example of how government and the private sector can successfully work together to solve a large and growing problem in the United States."
