CompTIA created its Excellence in Cybersecurity Awards to recognize members of Congress and federal agency program managers who have the foresight to use federal resources wisely to improve the cybersecurity skills of those who work for the U.S. Government. As Chief Information Officer Scott highlighted in his remarks, the Federal Cybersecurity Workforce Strategy emphasizes the importance of developing highly skilled talent in the federal workforce.
"As the Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Chairman McCaul has continuously made preparedness to prevent cybersecurity threats a top priority," said Todd Thibodeaux, President and CEO, CompTIA. "As the Co-Chair and Co-Founder of both the Congressional High Tech Caucus and the Cybersecurity Caucus, he has demonstrated a strong understanding of some of the most serious threats to our nation's technology infrastructure.
"Through his work on the Senate Armed Service Committee, Senator Blumenthal has championed the expansion of training and certification requirements for Department of Defense employees fighting to protect our nation from cyber threats," said Thibodeaux. "His efforts have raised awareness about the necessity for increased training and the value of industry-recognized certifications. And as Chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, Senator Blumenthal has taken special interest in helping veterans find good jobs in information technology."
"With more than 30 years' experience working in information and cyber security Ray Letteer understands firsthand the growing threats our nation faces from cyber threats," said Thibodeaux. "His leadership in the Marine Corps establishing, overseeing, and enforcing all Marine Corps baseline cybersecurity policies have provided a solid framework to protect many of our nation's high value assets."
