Yellow roses take center stage this year, with Eyeconic™ Lemonade and Sunshine Daydream. The pale pink Eyeconic™ Pink Lemonade and bright red Thrive™ complete the 2012 collection.
"These new introductions are now available to consumers," says Steve Hutton, president of Conard-Pyle/Star® Roses. "The Eyeconic series performs the best on the West Coast, but Sunshine Daydream and Thrive do quite well across the country."
These 2012 introductions are now available to consumers:
- Sunshine Daydream is the first traditional garden rose to win AARS under no-spray trial conditions. Bred by Meilland International, this rose features light yellow flowers that finish to a cream color, and dark green, glossy foliage. Sunshine Daydream, together with The Knock Out® Family of Roses, represents a more green and organic way of gardening with roses.
- Eyeconic™ Lemonade, a bright yellow rose, and Eyeconic™ Pink Lemonade, a pale pink rose, are both strong bloomers and self-cleaning. Part of the Hulthemia series, these breakthrough roses feature the characteristic Hulthemia "blotch" in the center. Both Eyeconic Lemonade and Eyeconic Pink Lemonade are best suited for zones in the Western United States.
- Thrive™ is a strong and healthy descendant of The Knock Out® Rose. Although it is hard to follow in the footsteps of Grandfather Knock Out®, this variety holds its own with hard-to-miss, bright, fire engine red blooms that last all season. Winter hardy to zone 6.
