Concert Pianist Jade Simmons an advocate for abused, abandoned and neglected children
MARTIN COUNTY, Fla., Nov. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The talents of concert pianist Jade Simmons will inspire and amaze a sold-out audience on Monday, February 25, 2013 at The 22nd Annual Jo Covelli Fashion Show and Luncheon with Special Guest, Jade Simmons in Stuart, Florida. In addition to the support provided by Mr. & Mrs. Albert and Jo Covelli, as Grand Benefactors, this lovely February afternoon affair has received leadership support from Mr. David L. Smythe, Mr. & Mrs. Frank and Maureen Zappala, and an ANONYMOUS friend of Hibiscus Children's Center, a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency located on Florida's Treasure Coast. Thanks to the caring members of their global community, abused, abandoned and neglected children will benefit from the life-changing services provided by Hibiscus Children's Center.
An artist with a social conscience that moves her to action, Ms. Simmons serves as an advocate for America's youth who are in crisis. "I applaud and support Hibiscus Children's Center. In partnership with its caring and generous community members, the needs of abused, abandoned, and neglected children from across the state of Florida are not only met ... children are given an opportunity to soar," states Ms. Simmons.
For her musical creativity, electrifying stage presence, and remarkable range of repertoire, Ms. Simmons became the first-ever New Music/New Places Fellow for the prestigious Concert Artist Guild. The Washington Post praised her as "a clear, powerful pianist with a magnetic personality ... worth seeing any time."
In 2009, Ms. Simmons hosted the first-ever webcast of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Further expanding her worldwide audience in 2011, she hosted the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition webcast in Moscow. The Houston Press named her "Houston's Best Arts Ambassador" in 2011, a year she closed with a recital at the White House at the invitation of President and Mrs. Obama.
Ms. Simmons' partnership with Hibiscus Children's Center is a testament to her dedication and concern for children who have experienced the trauma of abuse in their young lives. She will share her passion and love for music with the esteemed guests gathered at the prestigious Sailfish Point Country Club where this major fundraiser is held each year.
Hibiscus Children's Center is deeply grateful to Ms. Simmons for being a part of this important and impactful event. She has been praised for her innovative, enthusiastic and energetic musical talents and there is no doubt, she deserves accolades for her commitment to helping the youth in our local and national communities.

About Hibiscus Children's Center
Hibiscus Children's Center, founded in 1985 by LaVaughn Tilton, is a non-profit organization serving Martin, Indian River, Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties. It operates a shelter in Jensen Beach and a village of group homes in Vero Beach. Hibiscus addresses the problem of abuse, abandonment and neglect, throughout the Treasure Coast, with an expanded Foster Care Program, mental health and substance abuse services, a prevention program to support families in crisis, and services to reduce the number of families entering the dependency court system. The Hibiscus Children's Center Thrift Store, in Jensen Beach, was opened in 1997. All proceeds from the thrift store are used to offset costs for children's programs. The children's shelter, group homes and Foster programs are funded, in part, by United for Families. An additional $1.5 million must be raised, each year, by the Hibiscus annual campaign, special events, through foundations and local grants to meet overall children's needs. Hibiscus is also a United Way affiliated organization. Hibiscus speakers are available to present to your group or organization.
