LUTZ, Fla., Aug. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The popular Concussion Recognition & Response™ (CRR) app from PAR is now available free of charge for download through the Apple® App StoreSM and Google Play for use on your iPhone®, iPad®, iPod® Touch, Android™ device, or tablet.
The CRR app helps coaches and parents recognize the signs and symptoms of a concussion. In fewer than 5 minutes, parents or coaches can complete a checklist that helps them determine whether to seek medical attention. The app allows users to record pertinent information regarding the child with a suspected concussion, making it easy to share that information with health-care providers. Post-injury, it helps record progress during recovery and provides concussion education material to share with a child's school or teachers.
The CRR app was developed by concussion experts Gerard A. Gioia, PhD, and Jason Mihalik, PhD, using information from the CDC's "Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports" program. Based on the signs and symptoms outlined at the 3rd International Conference on Concussion in Sport (Zurich, 2008), the app was designed to use the same guidelines that doctors use to diagnose concussions. The CRR has been endorsed by internationally respected concussion prevention organizations including the Children's National Medical Center, the Matthew Gfeller Sport-Related Traumatic Brain Injury Research Center, and the Sports Concussion Institute.
