Congressman Mike Coffman Visits Anthem College in Aurora, Col.

AURORA, Colo., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- During a recent visit to the Sixth District he has represented since 2008, U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman visited Anthem College in the Denver suburb of Aurora.  

Aurora campus president Janet Mack briefed Rep. Coffman on the academic programs offered at Anthem and outlined Anthem College's consistently high graduation rates and its graduates' success in finding jobs in their fields.

As an advocate of economic growth and small businesses, Rep. Coffman was pleased to note that the Aurora campus is a vibrant contributor to the local economy. Coffman asked probing questions about the for-profit sector of post-secondary education.

"He clearly understands that colleges such as Anthem are innovative, responsive to the needs of employers, and effective in reaching underserved student populations," said Mack.

Previously, Coffman has criticized proposed federal rules affecting for-profit colleges as amounting to a government takeover of higher education and cautioned against government involvement  in academic issues such as course requirements, quality measures, and mandates about how and what to teach.

Anthem College Aurora offers Associate of Applied Science degree and diploma programs in Massage Therapy, Medical Assistant, Medical Billing & Coding, Surgical Technologist and X-Ray Technician (Limited Scope) programs.

Rep. Coffman also had the opportunity to tour the campus, meet faculty members and speak with students.
