Contradictions in G.M. Recall Case Cause Concern; Pegasus Legal Funding LLC Looks to Help Victims and Families Affected Secure Legal Funding

NEW YORK, July 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- General Motor's internal investigation seems to be uncovering some contradictions, contradictions that were most likely scrutinized at a recent House panel discussion.  Mary Barra, chief executive of G.M. had plans to elaborate on the fact that the auto manufacturer is determined to change its culture so that another safety crisis like the recent deadly ignition switch recall doesn't happen again. However, according to congressional staff members, Barra likely faced skeptical questions from some lawmakers who want to delve into the contradictions between the findings of G.M.'s internal investigation and the congressional committee's inquiry.

Since the story broke in February, 2.6 million Chevrolet Cobalts, Saturn Ions and some other smaller G.M. vehicles were recalled after discovering the vehicles' ignitions could slip out of the "run" position and shut off the engine. This defect has been linked to at least 13 deaths, and, it doesn't end there. Last week alone the automaker recalled nearly four million more cars worldwide for ignition issues that could lead to the vehicles stalling unexpectedly.

As the story continues to unfold, there are more and more drivers who have been negatively affected by the recalls. Some who have been injured in accidents as a result of driving one of the defective vehicles and families who have lost loved ones. Pegasus Legal Funding LLC, (Pegasus) the lawsuit settlement funding company, has been keeping a close eye on the case and is on call to help victims who have been negatively affected.

"As more and more details of this case come to light, what seems to remain consistent is that this situation could have been avoided if safety came before dollars," said Armando Paz of Pegasus. "We know how trying a situation like this one can be for victims and that's why we're here to help get them through this financially as they await their case resolution."

Although Barra and other senior executives at G.M. have ordered vast changes in the company's engineering department, including the creation of a new position to oversee safety issues and the termination of 15 employees, there are still concerns that these moves were too little too late.

When dealing with motor vehicle accident claims where the manufacturer of the vehicle or vehicle parts contributed to the accident because of negligent design or manufacture defects it can often take years to resolve. Pegasus Legal Funding's number one priority is to help victims today while they wait for the compensation they deserve.
