WASHINGTON, April 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Corporate Whistleblower Center is urging a medical doctor, manager at a nursing home or skilled nursing facility manager to call them anytime at 866-714-6466 if they have proof of substantial Medicare fraud at their place of work. In a recent example the Justice Department announced a $24 million dollar whistleblower reward involving one of the nation's largest skilled nursing companies.
In January of 2016 the United States Department of Justice announced one of the nation's largest skilled nursing facility companies agreed to pay $125 million to resolve a government lawsuit alleging that they knowingly caused skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) to submit false claims to Medicare for rehabilitation therapy services that were not reasonable, necessary and skilled, or that never occurred. Some of these allegations included:
- Presumptively placing patients in the highest therapy reimbursement level, rather than relying on individualized evaluations to determine the level of care most suitable for each patient's clinical needs.
- Reporting that skilled therapy had been provided to patients when in fact the patients were asleep or otherwise unable to undergo or benefit from skilled therapy (e.g., when a patient had been transitioned to palliative end-of-life care).
Again in this instance the whistleblowers will receive nearly $24 million.
The Corporate Whistleblower Center says, "If you work for a skilled nursing facility, a nursing home or you are a physician involved in emergency medicine, dialysis, hospice, a sleep clinic, or you have proof a pharmaceutical is involved in off labeling, or a medical device company is paying kickbacks please call us anytime at 866-714-6466 if you have well documented proof of significant Medicare /Medicaid fraud or Stark violations.
"We talk to healthcare whistleblowers every week and we are convinced there are thousands of medical doctors or healthcare professionals who have well documented proof their employer have overbilled Medicare or Medicaid in substantial ways. We want individuals like this to call us anytime at 866-714-6466. In some instances some of these people have won the lotto as we would like to explain, they just don't know it, or they are concerned about issues related to becoming a whistleblower." http://CorporateWhistleblowerCenter.Com
New Initiative for State-Specific Physician & Whistleblower Rewards
The Corporate Whistleblower Center is now urging a medical doctor who knows about widespread Medicare fraud in states such as California, New York, Florida, Texas, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Georgia, Massachusetts, Ohio, North Carolina, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, Louisiana, New Jersey, Washington, Arizona, Indiana, Tennessee, or Louisiana to call them about a possible collaboration focused on helping potential healthcare whistleblowers in their state step forward. In this instance the Center and the participating physician would share in a small portion of the whistleblower reward by helping a whistleblower package their information.
As the Center would like to explain, this service is in fact needed by some potential whistleblowers. The primary focus of this collaboration would be nursing homes, rehab centers, or skilled nursing managers/nurses in the home state of the medical doctor, because these types of enterprises are low hanging fruit when it comes to Medicare/Medicaid fraud or overbilling. For more information a physician is more than welcome to call the Corporate Whistleblower Center anytime at 866-714-6466 for more information. http://CorporateWhistleblowerCenter.Com
