Cox Network Powers CES, Bringing Attendees Closer to Latest Tech

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications' powerful network, engineers and service technicians are prepared for the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show, held annually at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC). CES is the world's gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. Last year, CES hosted more than 180,000 attendees, 4,400 companies and 1,000 speakers.

The LVCC and the world's top technology companies at CES require high-capacity bandwidth to power up booths that are as large as a city block. The Cox Business and affiliated Hospitality Network teams consult all CES exhibitors on the best wireline and wireless connections for their needs, from the largest most sophisticated activations, to staple 10x10 booths. We work closely with other LVCC building partners to ensure their services and staff have the appropriate Internet connections.

At CES 2018, Cox moved more than 8.6 terabytes of data on the show's WiFi network alone and nearly 40 terabytes of data in total internet traffic, across more than 288,00 devices, averaging two hours per device. Cox also supports the 14-screen, seven-location digital signage network within the Convention Center facility, including two new 40-foot LED screens in the concourse, and creates and manages the displayed content.

The Cox-powered telecom infrastructure that supports wired, cellular and WiFi devices at CES includes 2,100 WiFi access points, redundant 10 gigabit backbone internet connections and a distributed antenna system (DAS) equivalent to 14 cell towers inside the convention center.
