C.R. England Awards 8th Harley-Davidson in Fuel Efficiency Promotion
SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- C.R. England has awarded a 2013 Harley-Davidson Sportster Seventy-Two to Richard McDonald, one of its top company drivers, for showing improvement in miles per gallon average and average idle percentage for the second quarter 2013. This is the 8th Harley-Davidson awarded in the two years England has sponsored this fuel efficiency promotion.
McDonald has been with C.R. England since 1984. He drives a 2011 Freightliner Cascadia in England's National Over the Road Fleet and primarily runs freight between Utah and Idaho. McDonald was able to maintain a 7.52 mile per gallon average over the 2nd quarter with less than 1 percent idle time and 96 percent fuel compliance. His driver manager notes, "Mac has already hit the three million safe miles mark and is now working on getting to four million safe miles. He is always a pleasure to work with and has a great attitude regardless of how frustrating a situation may be." McDonald notes that some of his secrets that make a difference for him in fuel economy include: checking the filters and tire pressure often. He says, "Don't be a pedal pumper; go slow and easy like the old story about the turtle and the rabbit, slow and steady."
The other finalists were Jason Arsenault, Midwest Regional Division; James Anderson, Intermodal Division; Jason Crosby, Dedicated Division; and Michael Warren, Dedicated Division.
The second quarter promotion, which ran from April 1-June 20, 2013, required drivers to have met the following: availability at 75 percent or higher, an average mpg of 7.2, an idle of less than 13 percent, fuel stop compliance at 90 percent or higher and no chargeable late loads or accidents. Competition included company drivers that had a start date no later than April 1, 2013.
C.R. England's partners in the promotion are Golden Spike Harley-Davidson, Warner Truck Center, Horizon Truck and Leasing, Love's Travel Stops, IdleAir, Comdata, EFS and Pilot/Flying J.
