Crane Training Company Introduces New Course For Managers
Program to reduce risk and increase lifting operation reliability
TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Crane Tech LLC, the industry pioneer in crane safety and training for the materials handling and construction industries, is pleased to announce the launch of a new program for lifting operation supervisors.
Crane Tech has found that supervisors put in a position to oversee lifting operations often don't have the background or training necessary to recognize crane and rigging hazards or fully control lifting operations and safety. This leaves workers exposed to hazards that a more experienced supervisor can properly mitigate. The new Mobile Crane Safety for Managers program addresses operator and management responsibilities and key concerns. Topics will address a practical application of crane regulations, factors that influence safe and unsafe operations, how to read and interpret load rating charts, inspection requirements, evaluating site conditions, proper crane set up, power line safety and lift planning.
"Supervisors who rely solely on the crane operator are often placed in a precarious position of trusting without any ability to verify safety. This creates liability for their company and places workers and job progress at risk," stated Bo Collier president and second-generation owner. "After all, mobile crane safety is not the sole responsibility of the operator; management has responsibilities too, but we often find a knowledge gap of those in charge who simply do not have the proper foundation to make an informed decision," Collier continued.
This one-day course was created to maximize the time of busy professionals while providing a high-level overview in the areas where Crane Tech typically finds opportunities for improvement. The Mobile Crane Safety for Managers program will be taught by expert, field-experienced instructors and offered at client sites and as a scheduled course in Tampa and Houston during various dates throughout the year (view schedule). For individuals who are unable to be away from site operations during the day, Crane Tech will hold evening classes that will span two evenings during a particular week.
