NEW YORK, April 7, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- In effort to support health care professionals and essential workers who are increasingly putting their lives at risk during the coronavirus pandemic, Crisis Text Line, and its affiliate partners Kids Help Phone, and Shout, created the For the Frontlines (www.forthefrontlines.org) campaign to raise awareness about their free crisis counseling service.
By texting FRONTLINE to 741741 (in the US), health care professionals and essential workers can receive free 24/7 support for anxiety, stress, fear, isolation, or other difficult emotions. People in Canada can text 741741, in the UK text 852258, and Ireland text 086 1800 280.
Since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, Crisis Text Line has seen significant increase in texts from people experiencing anxiety about the disease. In the US, 78% of all texters say they are experiencing anxiety from the coronavirus.
"Hey frontline, you got us— and we got you," said Nancy Lublin, CEO and Founder of Crisis Text Line. The organizations are also encouraging others to become involved by applying to become a Crisis Counselor or making a donation to bring free crisis counseling to the frontlines.
"We want to make sure the heroes on the frontline know that when their shift ends, we're here for them when there might be no one else around. When they're done saving lives and stocking shelves Crisis Text Line is here to listen to the toll it's taking on them and hopefully help ease the burden," said Ian Power, CEO of Crisis Text Line in Ireland.
"At Kids Help Phone, we know the courage and the tenacity it takes for the frontline people to be there for all of us 24/7 and are so grateful," said Katherine Hay, President and CEO of Kids Help Phone in Canada. "They are our heroes during these unprecedented times and it is imperative that we ensure they too, have the support they need, now more than ever. We are here for them, we are in this together."
This initiative is supported in part by the Kate Spade New York Foundation.
