CT Association of Nonprofits Hosts Sold Out 8th Annual Nonprofit Conference
Association honors media, legislators, collects 150 toy donations
HARTFORD, Conn., Nov. 23, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Connecticut Association of Nonprofits hosted more than 500 attendees at its sold out 8th Annual Connecticut Nonprofit Conference and sponsored by DonorPerfect Fundraising Software.
In addition to informative seminars, panel discussions, and networking, media and legislative awards were presented to The CT Mirror, Sen. Donald DeFronzo (D- New Britain), Sen. Toni Nathaniel Harp (D- New Haven), and Rep. John Geragosian (D-New Britain).
The keynote address "It's Not About Surviving, or Even Thriving. It's About Prevailing" was delivered by Jan Masaoka, Director & Editor in Chief of Blue Avocado, author of The Best of Board Cafe, and former Executive Director of CompassPoint Nonprofit Services.
"We were thrilled to have such a wonderful turnout," said Mark Berardi, Director of Membership Development & Training Services. "We are proud to be able to bring tools and information to our state's nonprofits. Our goal is to help support them in the great work they do for our communities."
As part of admission, attendees were asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy. One hundred fifty toys were collected and will be donated to the NBC Connecticut Joy of Sharing Toy Drive.
Planning for the 9th Annual Connecticut Nonprofit Conference is underway. It will feature Craig Kielburger, founder and chair of Free the Children, an international development and youth empowerment organization. The 28-year-old Kielburger has been a humanitarian and social activist since he was 12-years-old and now leads one of the world's leading youth-driven charities. Next year's conference will take place November 10, 2011 at the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell, CT.
