Culik Law Now Accepting Employment Rights Cases
Massachusetts law firm broadens practice area to include employment litigation.
BOSTON, Feb. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Culik Law, a Massachusetts law firm, has announced they are now accepting employee rights cases including wrongful termination and wage and hour matters. Since the firm's origination in 2008 they have helped consumers and inviduals by using the law to advocate for their rights. Culik Law views employee rights as a complimentary addition considering the challenges employees sometimes face against larger entities, business, and employers who may have violated their rights.

Although employment in most cases in Massachusetts is "at will," meaning that either party can terminate the employment for any reason, there are many exceptions to this. A violation results in a wrongful termination. Some of the exceptions include: age discrimination, nationality or national origin, race or color, gender, religion, serving on a jury, doing anything that the law requires, refusing to do something illegal that your employer wants you to do, taking time to participate in school activities, and medical and dental appointments for certain family members, having a disability, or many other reasons, including any reason that violates an established public policy.
The "wage and hour" laws say that if an employee is not being paid minimum wage, employers can't retaliate against the employee or fire them for requesting that you be paid for all your work, but the laws also say that the attorney fees and court costs have to be paid by the employer if the employee prevails.
Other areas of employment law that Culik Law will be handling are employee discrimination and employee contract disputes and breaches.
"We are excited to be working on these cases representing employees in Massachusetts. For us, the goal has always been to help regular people who are fighting against entities bigger than them. This addition is a natural for Culik Law and aligns with our overall mission for upholding individual rights," says Attorney Josef Culik, President and Principal Attorney at Culik Law.
Througout 2014, Culik Law plans to host a series of free workshops focused on topics relevant to the firm and community needs. They plan to focus a future event in 2014 on employee rights in both the areas of wrongful termination and wage and hour law.
