Cuyahoga Community College Announces Construction of Hospitality Management Center Downtown
Project to complement other planned and future downtown Cleveland developments
CLEVELAND, May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) today announced that construction is underway on its 'Hospitality Management Center at Public Square, Cleveland.' The new 25,000 square foot facility will feature a state-of-the-art culinary facility, classrooms, a demonstration studio, and a 'video wall' visible to passers-by.
A portion of the Hospitality Management Center (HMC) will open this fall, bringing Tri-C's culinary arts, lodging/tourism management, and restaurant/food service management programs to the heart of downtown Cleveland and making possible new partnership opportunities with nearby hotels and restaurants. Tri-C will also provide opportunities for the downtown hospitality industry to increase the skill level of their current employees. In addition, the center will offer evening and weekend noncredit courses, making it easy for downtown employees to stop by after work and learn new culinary skills.
"With the expanding downtown entertainment scene, and the casino, medical mart and convention center on the drawing board, the hospitality field is a significant job growth area for our community," said Al Moran, vice president of marketing and communications for Cuyahoga Community College. "The Hospitality Management Center will prepare students for rewarding careers in these areas, and it will contribute to the ongoing revitalization of lower Euclid Avenue and downtown Cleveland."
The Hospitality Management Center will open to students in October. Accelerated business programs will also be offered at the HMC this fall, with courses conducted evenings and online.
The convenience of the HMC location in the heart of Cleveland may lend itself to additional educational programs in the future, particularly as the downtown casino and other developments planned within a radius of several blocks of the center move forward.
