DALLAS, Dec. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- LewinsLaw's Securities Litigation client was awarded $345,000.00 by a FINRA Arbitration panel against Mark Allan Plummer and Texas E&P Partners.
The claims stemmed from Plummer and his company Texas E&P Partners, soliciting investments into high risk, illiquid oil & gas partnerships to elderly clients.
The arbitrators found that Plummer, individually and through his company, committed fraud, deceit and misstatements and omissions of material facts in violation of the Texas Securities Act, as well as common fraud, deceit or manipulation in connection with the purchase and/or sale of a security, in this case, oil & gas partnerships.
"In these times of relatively low-interest rates, largely retired senior investors looking for income are easy prey for aggressive salespersons selling high risk, illiquid investments with promises of significant income rather than safer, liquid investments," said Richard Lewins of LewinsLaw.
"People who recommend and sell investments, whether they are affiliated with well-known brokerage firms, or small, independent firms, have a duty to only recommend and sell investments that are suitable to the buyer. Misrepresenting high-risk, illiquid investments to people that are the most vulnerable and least able to take on such risk is reprehensible," Lewins added.
