Dan Rooney, Tulsa Magazine to Energize Execs in San Diego PennWell Smart Grid Conference Offers Press Passes
TULSA, Okla., Jan. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- PennWell Corp. — Tulsa-based Electric Light & Power magazine is inviting credentialed members of the media to attend the Electric Light & Power Executive Conference on Jan. 30 and 31 at the Omni San Diego Hotel. One of the keynote speakers will be Green Country's finest, F-16 pilot and founder of the Folds of Honor Foundation and Patriot Golf Day Maj. Dan Rooney.
"Unless you're involved with utilities' engineering, management or equipment sales, you probably can't define the term smart grid," said Teresa Hansen, editor in chief of Electric Light & Power magazine. "The average person hears about smart meters when his or her electric utility announces installations, and usually that information gets mailed along with utility bills. I think electricity consumers—nearly everyone in the United States—would appreciate learning more about the smart grid from the people they already trust: their favorite journalists in print, on TV, radio and online. Smart grid's ready to go mainstream."
Journalists attending the Electric Light & Power Executive Conference will learn about smart grid issues alongside executives from some of the world's most recognizable organizations, including: Ford Motor Co., General Motors Corp., the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Deutsche Bank, Commonwealth Edison Co., Greentech Capital Advisors, NSTAR, Pepco Holdings Inc., and the Electric Power Research Institute. The seven smart grid topics covered are: Customer Outreach; State of the Economy; Electric Vehicle Update; Data Privacy; Regulator Snapshot; Energy Storage Overview; and Raising Capital.
Keynote speakers are Rooney and FOX News business and financial journalist Stuart Varney.
The conference includes a dinner at the Hotel del Coronado, where Hansen will present three awards. Pierre-Luc Desgagne of Hydro-Quebec, the world's largest hydroelectric power producer, will accept the 2010 Utility of the Year award. Ann D. Murtlow, president and CEO of Indianapolis Power & Light Co, will receive the large utility CEO of the Year award. Larry Doran, president and CEO of Peterborough Utilities Group in Ontario, Canada, will accept the small utility CEO of the Year award.
