DataMotion Selected by Michigan Health Information Network to Provide Direct Secure Messaging Services

EAST LANSING, Mich. and FLORHAM PARK, N.J., July 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Following a rigorous competitive evaluation, Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN) has designated DataMotion™, an innovative Health Information Service Provider (HISP), as an Approved Direct Vendor (ADV) for MiHIN and the Direct Marketplace for Michigan (DMM). DataMotion's Direct Secure Messaging service will help qualified data sharing organizations and healthcare providers easily and inexpensively exchange health information securely in Michigan in full compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act.

Qualifying considerations leading to the ADV designation for DataMotion included:

• Full accreditation by the Direct Trusted Agent Accreditation Program (DTAAP) for HISPs from DirectTrust.org and the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC)
• Status as a Trusted Participant in the DirectTrust Accredited Trust Bundle
• Capability to integrate with MiHIN's statewide Health Provider Directory (HPD), MiHIN's Record Locator Service (RLS), and MiHIN's Federated Identity Management (FIdM)/Identity Exchange Hub

The HISP also announced the service is now interoperable with EpicCare EMR and MEDITECH, enabling customers of these leading EHR vendors to attest for Meaningful Use Stage 2 (MU2) and qualify for financial incentives from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
