DataVeil Static Data Masking Now Available for Azure SQL Database

Although Microsoft already provides data masking for Azure SQL Database it only provides a dynamic data masking capability. This is fundamentally different to the static data masking capability offered by DataVeil.
DataVeil's static data masking permanently overwrites the sensitive data stored in an Azure SQL Database with realistic but fictitious information whereas Microsoft's dynamic data masking only redacts the data returned from the database, such as for display on a screen, without making any changes to the actual sensitive data stored in the database.
Therefore, DataVeil's static data masking is ideal for purposes such as development, testing and outsourcing where access to the actual sensitive fields is required. This allows personnel to examine changes to stored data, after making software modifications or running tests, to verify the correctness of those changes without any sensitive data being exposed thereby eliminating the possibility of any data security or privacy breaches. Dynamic data masking is unsuitable for such purposes because the sensitive data remains present in the database and therefore vulnerable to raw examination.
