CHICAGO, Feb. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In media sessions leading up to Super Bowl 50, the Commissioner of the NFL and a member of the NFL's Head, Neck and Spine Committee each made incredulous statements demonstrating their refusal to acknowledge the realities of brain damage as a result of the brain traumas suffered in the NFL.

On Friday, Roger Goodell responded to a question about player safety by stating, "there's risks in life, there's risks to sitting on a couch." The day before, Dr. Mitchel Berger, a neurosurgeon at the University of California, San Francisco and member of the NFL's committee charged with studying concussive and subconcussive brain trauma, remarkably denied a link between football and neurodegenerative disease.
