DC's Children's Law Center to Collect Gifts for Holiday Hope Drive
Area Businesses and Leaders Join Effort to Provide Christmas for DC's Neediest Kids
WASHINGTON, Dec. 7, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is being issued by the Children's Law Center:
What: This Saturday, DC's Children's Law Center (CLC) will conclude a week of collecting toys, clothing and other gifts from volunteer Santas from across the DC metro area. CLC's Holiday Hope Drive connects local donors with one or more of DC's neediest children to help make their holidays special. Santas provide the children with two toys from their wish list, a full outfit of clothing and a grocery gift card for a holiday meal.
Each child has his or her own story: many live in foster care or group homes, some have been abused or neglected, and some have never had a "real Christmas." But none of these children would be able to have a festive holiday celebration this year without the Holiday Hope Drive and their volunteer Santas.
Who: Santas from throughout the metropolitan area have collected over 3,000 gifts for 700 children that will be dropped off over the weekend. The following local leaders and businesses have made particularly generous commitments this year:
- Bates White
- CGI Technologies
- Children's National Medical Center
- DLA Piper
- Fannie Mae
- Harris Teeter
- Hunton & Williams
- Latham & Watkins
- McKenna Long & Aldridge
- Richards Kibbe & Orbe
- White & Case
When: Saturday, December 11 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Where: CLC's offices: 616 H Street NW, Suite 300, Washington, DC
