Deborah Grider Announced as President of AAPC

SALT LAKE CITY, May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) announced today the appointment of Deborah Grider as President, effective July 1st, 2010. Grider brings more than 30 years of health care experience to this position, focusing specifically in the areas of compliance, medical coding and reimbursement. She has a proven track record in growing business units and initiatives within the company. She succeeds Reed Pew who was recently appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors for Eli Research's health care group, which includes AAPC, Inhealthcare, ASHIM and Practice Builders.

Grider joined AAPC one year ago as Vice President of Strategic Development where she has been responsible for strategic initiatives and major projects, including the full development of the AAPC's training and curriculum for the new ICD-10-CM medical coding system among other projects.

Prior to joining AAPC, Grider was president of Deborah Grider & Associates, LLC, an Indiana-based physician-consulting firm. In this role, she worked with physician practices across the country to resolve coding issues and provide education. In her tenure in the health care industry, Grider also worked as a practice administrator for both the Indiana University School of Medicine and Indianapolis Eye Physicians and Surgeons. Grider holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Indiana University.

With anticipated broad changes in the health care industry because of cost issues, Pew will focus his efforts on developing services, trainings and certifications for what he calls the "physician's office of the future." Pew will maintain an office at AAPC.
