FALLS CHURCH, Va., July 29, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today the Defense Health Board announced that its next meeting will be held August 8th and 9th in Tacoma, Washington. Sessions on August 8th will be held at the Hotel Murano, 1320 Broadway, Tacoma, Washington. Briefings and discussions will take place in two sessions: the morning session from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the afternoon session from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m. These sessions will be open to the public in accordance with Federal Advisory Committee Act provisions. On August 9th DHB members will tour several facilities at Ft Lewis and Madigan Army Medical Center.
On August 8th, the Board will discuss and vote on two issues presented by the Psychological Health External Advisory Subcommittee:
- Final report on Psychotropic medication prescription practices and use plus complementary and alternative medicine use
- Recommendations regarding the Automated Neuropsychological Assessment Metrics (ANAM)
The Board will receive an update briefing from the Trauma and Injury Subcommittee regarding on-going activities, will consider for vote the Subcommittee's proposed recommendations for Tranexamic Acid use in Theater, and also consider for vote the Subcommittee's proposed recommendations for the combat ready clamp.
Additionally, the Board will receive a number of informational briefings:
- Military Infectious Diseases Research Program
- DoD Institutional Review Boards
- Overview of Madigan Army Medical Center
- Two Panel discussions with both military leaders and physicians
