BUFFALO, N.Y., Dec. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- At nearly 100 years old, Delaware North Companies is one of the longest-standing hospitality management services companies in existence. And yet, the company continues to find new and exciting ways to improve upon and share its global hospitality management brand with the more than one-half billion guests who each year visit the airports, sports venues, parks, resorts and gaming venues where Delaware North operates.

Recent industry awards and citations indicate Delaware North's reputation as a leading hospitality management company is not going unnoticed. Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts, the arm of Delaware North Companies responsible for providing hospitality management services in parks, hotels and attractions in North America and Australia, was just named a leading hotelier by three industry publications: Hotel Business, Hotel & Motel Management and Hotels. The company manages approximately 4,000 hotel rooms worldwide.

In a listing of 2010's best hotels, resorts, airlines, cruise lines and destinations, Travel guru Conde Nast included The Ahwahnee, the high-end hotel that Delaware North operates in Yosemite, on its list of readers' favorites on the U.S. mainland. Lizard Island, a property Delaware North owns and operates, is number eight on the list of the top 20 resorts in Oceania.

Delaware North's hospitality management services in airports has likewise been receiving its share of accolades. In September, Forbes.com dubbed Delaware North's concepts among "the best menu options" in Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Texas' Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Delaware North-operated concepts named at LAX include the Encounter Restaurant & Bar and Pink's Hot Dogs. In addition, Delaware North's Wolfgang Puck concept at LAX was cited for its particularly tasty "Chinois Salad" menu offering.

The Forbes.com reviewer also selected The Salt Lick, a barbeque concept operated by Delaware North in Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The Salt Lick is a Southern barbecue restaurant that originated in Texas and features savory sliced briskets, as well as pulled pork and chopped beef sandwiches.
