LONDON, July 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
New stats from StubHub reveal demand for Ashes tickets has increased by an average of 76%
Demand for Ashes tickets has increased by an average of 76% since the start of the Test series on the 10th July up until this week.
The figures revealed by StubHub indicate the growing excitement amongst England fans that this could not only be series victory but also a series 'whitewash' after England's emphatic win in the 2nd Test.
Demand reached its peak the day after Alistair Cook and his men clinched the nail biting 1st test at Trent Bridge with ticket searches up by an extraordinary 780% compared to the same time in June.
And with a break this week until the 3rd Test begins at Old Trafford on 1st August, StubHub is predicting the trend to continue on an upward trajectory, with the Ashes expected to top their most popular sporting event of the year by the time of its culmination.
Commenting on the demand, Brigitte Ricou-Bellan said, "Even before the 1st Test began, demand had been unprecedented for us. I think that given the form of the England team so far on top of other sporting successes such as Andy Murray, the Lions and Chris Froome, hope of victory has turned into expectancy. And fans want to be there to witness cricket history."
Tickets for the 3rd Test at Old Trafford, which starts on 1st August, as well as tickets for the other two remaining Tests, are all still available at http://www.stubhub.co.uk/the-ashes-tickets/
